At Moxxy Forensic Investigations, our work is driven by a commitment to seeking answers, supporting victims and their families, and advancing justice through forensic investigation and research. Our volunteers play an essential role in helping us carry out this mission.

We welcome individuals who are passionate about investigative genetic genealogy, research, victim advocacy, and missing persons work. Volunteers support Moxxy in a variety of ways—from research and case support to outreach, education, and organizational operations.

Because of the sensitive nature of the work we do, our volunteers must be dedicated, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

What Our Volunteers Do

 

Volunteer roles may include:

  • Research assistance related to unidentified persons and missing persons cases

  • Genealogical or historical research support

  • Assistance with awareness initiatives and public education

  • Support for victim advocacy efforts

  • Administrative or organizational support

  • Event and outreach assistance

Who Should Apply

We encourage applications from individuals who:

  • Have an interest in forensic science, genealogy, criminal justice, nonprofit management, or victim advocacy

  • Are reliable, professional, and comfortable working with sensitive subject matter

  • Are able to communicate and collaborate effectively with a team

  • Are comfortable working with technology and willing to learn new research tools, databases, and digital platforms

  • Are willing to follow organizational guidelines and confidentiality requirements

Open Positions.

Investigative Genetic Genealogist

Assist with genealogical research in support of unidentified persons and investigative cases. Volunteers in this role analyze DNA matches, build family trees, and collaborate with the team to identify potential leads.

Research Analyst

Support casework through detailed research and analysis of historical records, public databases, and other investigative resources. This role helps compile and organize information that may assist in identifying unidentified individuals or locating missing persons.

Missing Persons Researcher/Advocate

Conduct research related to missing persons cases while also supporting efforts that raise awareness and assist families seeking answers. Volunteers in this role may help review case information, locate records, and assist with advocacy initiatives.

Social Media Video Content Creator

Create short-form video content that helps raise awareness about unidentified individuals, missing persons cases, and Moxxy’s work. Volunteers will collaborate with the team to develop engaging, respectful, and informative content for social media platforms.

Bilingual Communication Specialist

Assist with communication and outreach involving families, community members, and case information in multiple languages. This role helps ensure important information is accessible and that language barriers do not prevent collaboration or support.

Traditional/Genetic Genealogist

Conduct genealogical research using historical records such as census data, vital records, obituaries, and other archival sources, as well as DNA. Volunteers in this role assist members of the public with family history research and may also support investigative efforts by helping resolve lineage questions, including non-paternity events.

Licensed Texas Attorney

Provide legal guidance related to organizational operations, casework considerations, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This volunteer role helps ensure Moxxy’s work is conducted within appropriate legal frameworks.

Grant Writer

Research and assist in preparing grant proposals to support Moxxy’s programs and investigative work. Volunteers in this role help identify funding opportunities, draft grant materials, and collaborate with leadership to communicate the impact of our work to potential funders.
